Dear Friends and Family,
On May 13, 2021 the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary will do what no Baltimore City parish has ever done: open its doors 24/7 for Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration.
Objectively speaking, this will be the greatest event ever to happen in Baltimore City. Jesus—God—will be accessible to every person in our city at any hour, day or night. Therefore, we can truthfully say that May 13, 2021 will be the greatest day Baltimore’s history.
To prepare for this monumental day, we are putting the finishing touches on our future Adoration Chapel. It will be called the Saint John Paul II Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. “JP2” visited our Basilica on October 8, 1995. Here is a picture from his historic visit.
You can see him kneeling, gazing at the Eucharist with a beautiful image of Our Lady of Czestochowa to the right—foreshadowing the day in which we would have perpetual adoration in the Basilica of the Blessed Mother!
Relics of Saint John Paul II to be Displayed for You!
To make our Eucharistic Chapel worthy of having Our Lord in it, we need to make a few upgrades to the space. We need to add some lighting. We have to repair some water damage as well as a wall that is damaged. The space needs some paint. And we want to preserve and display the St. John Paul II relics and artwork we have, including:
To do all the work that needs to be done (including adding a door so we can have the proper silence and a sacred atmosphere in the chapel), we need to raise $75,150. Once we raise that money, we will be able to open our doors to the people of Baltimore in May (God-willing!).
I am convinced that having Jesus in the middle of Baltimore City will have a profound impact. I believe murders will decline. Violence will decrease. More people will come to know the truth as they gaze upon Jesus—who is the Way, the Truth and the Life—in the Eucharist. In addition, marriages will be strengthened and we will have more vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
As we approach the holiday season, would you consider making a gift to bring Jesus to Baltimore? Would you help us raise the money we need for this Adoration Chapel—named after St. John Paul II?
With your help, May 13, 2021 will be the greatest day in Baltimore City history! Please click here to donate.
May God bless you abundantly through Mary,
Fr. James Boric
